A key to slimming down

Your body is 60% water. So why not drink it? Water is the key to slimming down and losing those few extra pounds before bikini season. Drinking water helps bloating by washing out any toxins in the digestive system. By staying hydrated all day, you can see results in just days. If you’re like me and hate water because it’s too bland, do not turn to to Gatorade or sports drinks which are loaded in sugars. Just simply add some fruit to your water. Fresh lemon and other fruits are a great way to add flavor and also help shed some pounds. Lemons and limes are proven to clean out the digestive track and leave you feeling lighter and healthier.

Start each meal by drinking a tall glass of lemon water and you won’t be as hungry. This will help you stick to the portions you’re supposed to eat instead of overeating.

And remember, after a workout in the sun, you’ll need to replace the sweat by drinking water or else you will gain water weight and start to bloat!images

Half-Marathon

Having trouble staying motivated? A great way to force yourself to workout is to set goals. My newest goal is to complete my first half-marathon this October. A half-marathon is 13 miles. I just entered in the SoNo Half Marathon which is located in South Norwalk, Connecticut. This goal may seem far away, but 13 miles is a lot so in order to get in shape and be able to complete the marathon, I will have to start training now and continue my training throughout up until the race. Many people find that signing up for races like this is a great motivated to get into shape or stay in shape because they have to run. There are also many half-marathons that are for charity. A friend of mine just completed a half-marathon for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is the hospital that both her grandparents were treated at. There are many great races that can keep you motivated and support a good cause of your choosing! For more on the half-marathon I will be completing visit http://www.sonohalf.com/

The Perfect TeaTox

In the past year or so, the teatox fad has spread like crazy. For those of you that don’t know, a teatox is a tea cleanse for your digestive system. It seeks to remove excess weight by washing out bad bacteria that may be holding you back from shedding some extra pounds. I myself have tried many and have found unsatisfying results until I was recommended YourTea. YourTea offers numerous tea options including weight loss, antioxidant teas, fertility teas and they even make a tea specifically for men. The Tiny Tea for weight loss comes in either a 14 day pack or a 28 day pack. This tea is specifically designed to assist with bloating, excess weight loss, increases energy, cellulite and even skin problems. When I first ordered my Tiny Tea, I purchased the 14 day box and in less than a week I felt so much better and had already noticed a difference. I had a lot more energy and lost a little over 5 pounds after the 2 weeks. I highly recommend anybody to use the teatox’s by YourTea, they truly are magical for the body. http://www.yourtea.com/

Non-profit 5k Races

For the past few months, while I have been excited to get some sun in Florida for spring break, my friend has been working hard preparing for an upcoming 5k race she is participating in. The 5k is called the Shamrock 5k Run and supports Family & Children’s Aid. This non-profit organization supports families and children in crisis. by providing innovative and responsive programs and services. Hearing my friend talk about the 5k she will be running in got me thinking about how many non-profit organizations hold these races to support their cause. A great motivational tool to help anybody get in shape and get to the gym everyday would be entering in one of the great races. Not only would you be helping yourself and your body, but you would be supporting a non-profit organization. There are so many different races held all the time in every single state. You can go on Google and search for these races in your state, pick any cause you want to support and get in shape. Once entered in a race, you are forced to start training, because a 5k is not easy. A 5k is the equivalent of 3.1 miles, and many other non-profit races can go much longer than a 5k. You can register for the race months in advance in order to give yourself ample time to prepare. Hearing my friend talk about this race got me thinking about how I should do this, which would provide me with the motivation to start running everyday so that I don’t embarrass myself when the date comes. Before decided to register, just remember to really give yourself time to train for this, at lest a few months.
